Picnic Saturday. Told him that he'd make a great male model, but all he did was shake his head, lol.

Everything about this shot was and is just perfect, to me. Not much is going on in it, but i guess there is beauty in simplicity. Love(d) all the colours in it, the old cream car parked by the handicap spot, the setup of the flats, the little tree by the bottom right.

It's raining right now, but at least the sun was out in its full glory this morning and a few hours of the afternoon.

A little black and white here and there..

The weather has been quite dull today....so, i decided to take a few black and white shots here and there. This is the view from my office, and it was only appropriate that i have a cup of tea to take my mind off the not-so-great weather;

As i was heading home, i spotted this, and it was only right to snap away;

This gentleman was kind enough to let me bother him for a bit;

His Day is Done - A Tribute Poem for Nelson Mandela by Dr. Maya Angelou

This is so beautiful.....Rest In Peace..

Throwback of my tourist moments in South Africa (R.I.P Madiba)

The great Mandela's passing has brought back memories of the time my mum, sister and I decided to explore some of the tourist spots in South Africa. I did a lot of searching for these photos, as i tried my hardest to recall their names, and I did!....sorta...;-)

The Nelson Mandela monument at the Nelson Mandela Square, in Sandton;

Then, we visited the Hector Pieterson Museum, in Soweto, it's got such beautiful memorabilia and historical artifacts. Visiting this place, was very emotional;

This tragic museum, opened in 2002, honours the Sowetan school children slain in a police massacre in 1976.

 Hector Pieterson (1963 – 16 June 1976) became the subject of an iconic image of the 1976 Soweto uprising in South Africa when a news photograph by Sam Nzima of the dying Hector being carried by another student while his sister ran next to them, was published around the world. He was killed at the age of 13 when the police opened fire on protesting students. For years, 16 June stood as a symbol of resistance to the brutality of the apartheid government. Today, it is designated National Youth Day — when South Africans honour young people and bring attention to their needs.

I don't recall the name of the place below, but it is in Johannesburg; (I'll edit this when i remember, lol)

Freedom Park, in Pretoria;

It is the heart and soul of the nation captured in one breathtaking space. It stands as a beacon to guide all South Africans on the route of hope and patriotism to a proudly united nation. A way to experience and appreciate South African history and to walk where their ancestors have walked and to learn about their shared heritage as brothers and sisters.

More of Freedom Park, with my not so little sister. The next destination was to that square shaped construction;

Then, right inside, you get all these banners of the greatest African leaders to have lived, with one of their famous quotes at the top;

As we were leaving the Park, we went to this other site where as a sign of respect, we had to remove our shoes. Right behind me are rocks, and yes, that is steam, and it is never put out. At the far back, is UNISA (University of South Africa).

 

The Voortrekker Monument & Heritage Site, in Pretoria;

A unique Monument which commemorates the Pioneer history of Southern Africa and the history of the Afrikaner and is situated in a beautiful setting.

Right inside of the above monument, you get to this area, it has a lot of artifacts that were used by the Afrikaners from back in the day....yes, that's my crazy self high on adrenaline, and jumping in the air;

The above monument is also referrered to as The Piet Retief Monument, and can also be viewed from this angle;

We also got to see the Union Buildings as well, in Pretoria. That was our great chauffeur for the entire trip;

The Soccer City/FNB Stadium in Johannesburg;

Then,  i continued to take a short walk through campus;

As i walked through this, and got to the end;

I just had to try this, lol;

Got done with that, and finally as i headed home, i couldn't resist to take this as i walked through the tunnel, beautiful wall art too;
